Armoured troop-carrier prime-mover "МТ-ЛБ" was produced at tractor plant in Kharkov and was designed for transportation of ammunition and medium field artillery. Its carrying capacity reached 2 tons, by the towing of Trailers - up to 6,5 tons. Additional equipment for navigation is installed for overcoming of water barriers. It was adopted in 1964. Modernized version MT-LB6MA was released in 2000. Its main distinction is altered armament system which was borrowed from BTR-80. There is BPU-1 machine gun turret on the hull, which is armed with 14,5 mm KPVT and 7,62 mm PKT machine guns. The ammunition supply consists of 2000 PKT and 500 KPVT cartridges. The frame is made of steel; it`s whole welded, water-resistant, has water displacement that makes it possible for armoured troop-carrier prime mover to keep afloat with the nominal carrying capacity. Running gear consists of caterpillar propelling agent and hanger bracket. Caterpillar propelling agent consist of 2 caterpillars, 2 driving sprockets, 2 guide wheels and 12 bearing rollers. Caterpillars are made of metal; they have small links, each of them consist of 108 tracks. The hanger bracket independent and torsion. Up to this time MT LB remains unsurpassed in quality and practicability.
